The Crimson Muses
Based in Norfolk in the UK, The Crimson Muses are a unique musical trio performing passionate Romany Gypsy songs and folk music from Eastern Europe. Powerful vocal harmonies, accordian, percussion, harmonium & lyrical clarinet all conspire to delight the ears & awaken the heart!
The songs are sung mostly in the Romany Gypsy language, in Macedonian
& in Czech, with some English translations. Some are
celebratory songs such as wedding songs, & others are poignant
emotional ballads. They draw on the rich heritage of the Gypsies
and tell of love,
hope, longing, sorrow, parting and the joy of life....

In gratitude to the incredible musicianship & vibrant strength of spirit of the Romany gypsies of Eastern Europe, we aim to preserve the integrity of their traditional songs whilst bringing our own unique flavour & interpretation to them.
